ONLINE ADVERTISING CHECKLIST: GOOGLE ADWORDS & FACEBOOK

Sam Ovens is definitely one of, if not the most successful YOUNG business consultants to come out of this “online marketing revolution” and in my opinion, it is because he mastered online Ads. Sure, he had some success using YouTube to blog, Twitter and IG to promote his teaching/seminar business and email marketing to somewhat tie it together.
BUT….
If you have had the pleasure (man , he owns me big time, lol. You would think I work for him) of attending one of his webinars you will know, 95% of his income comes from his mastery of ONE ☝critical component. Drum roll as you put on your Affiliate, Social, Online marketing thinking cap ???? and try to guess. If you said Online ADVERTISING you are 100% correct.
95% of Sam’s business comes via online advertising like GOOGLE ADWORDS & Facebook. I am going to get into Facebook advertising and using your affiliate links to promote your business next week because, in my opinion (and Sam Ovens for that matter) Google Adwords takes precedent and when used properly can transform your business OVERNIGHT!,
Before creating any advertising campaign, we need to have a clear strategy based on in-depth, real-time data including:
Strategy & Messaging
What is your market?
Who are your customers?
Who are your competitors?
What message are you trying to convey?
Why should customers choose you?
What are the campaign goals?
Targeting
What geographies are being targeted?
Is Display (Remarketing) being used?
Is Remarketing being used?
Are there any initial day/week partings?
Are mobile devices going to be targeted?
Creative Development
Do landing pages currently exist?
If yes, do they follow to best-practices?
Can they be amended?
If no, who is creating them?
If targeting mobile, is the landing page mobile responsive?
Campaign Development
Conduct keyword research
Divide keywords in tightly themed Ad groups
Add negative keywords to exclude words with a different user intent
Develop product/solution/service oriented benefit statements
Determine offers (or asset)
Develop ad copy incorporating your benefits and offers.
Spell check your adverts
Check all adverts link through to a good landing page
Finalize the master plan (i.e. display URLs, Final URLs, etc.)
Generate initial list of negative terms and, if applicable, excluded placements
Tracking
Ensure conversion tracking is in place & contact forms work.
If doing Remarketing has Remarketing code been implemented?
If tracking phone calls, has phone call tracking been implemented?
Have you “lived tested” tracking?
Campaign Settings & Upload
Upload campaign in bulk-sheet into Ad Words Editor
Edit default settings where needed
Set daily budget cap
Double check settings
Launch campaign paused in Editor
Review paused campaign in AdWords
