How to build Your Facebook Audience with SPY and Chatmatic

Often, we go through a video and try to understand what we need to do in order to gain some real successes. This video on Building Your List by Travis Stephenson is an excellent example of what you need to do to get off the ground a running a full speed.

I have tested this process personally and I was blown away with the success of following the steps. I used a really narrow niche (crochet) and built a list of over 200 people within 24 hours. This is absolutely AMAZING!

Just following the steps will increase the number of button subscribers without fail.

Step 1: Find a viral post.

For this video, I used Wealthery SPY to find my viral content – you can use another tool if you wish but SPY will give you everything you need to know about the virality of an article or video.

When using SPY, pick a simple keyword, not something complicated. I used “crochet”, Travis used “pug”. Before using the search button, click on the filters and select: Articles and Videos. Also pick the time frame for the content such as 6 months. I pick this because I want the information to be recent enough to still garner attention.

When you click on Search you will get a list of articles and videos. I sort these by Facebook Shares to find an article I want to use. Here is an example of the search results sorted by the number of Facebook Shares for the keyword “crochet”.

Review the post to make sure it is one you can use. Sometimes the article or video will not quite fit your needs for your Fan Page. In this case I looked through a number of posts and found one where the images were easy to save and it provided something of value to my audience. My audience is into crafting, so the article had to give value and be readily shareable.

In my case, I used “How to Crochet 3D Flowers with Multi Petals”

Step 2: Images

Go through the article and save any images you think you can use for your post, even if they are not the right size (940 x 788 pixels) for a post. You can always use Canva.com (free version) to upload the image and size it correctly.

Step 3: URLs

For me I use a spreadsheet to record all the information, so I do not lose it. Grab the URL for the viral page.

Use Chatmatic to create a Button link for the Post

Copy the URL portion of the button link – it is between the quote marks.

Go to Bit.ly (or use another shortener but DON’T use Google’s goo.gl service – why? See my last blog post) and get the shortened URL. I normally create a customized link but you can go with the information bit.ly provides.

Copy the Bit.ly link – that is the one you will be using in your post.

Step 4: Creating the Post

Create your own post – go in this order so you do not have to delete previews etc. – this is the simplest way to get the post done.

a) Add the image you saved for the post (it needs to be an image you upload, not the one that was generated automatically by Facebook)

b) Add text or headlines for the post using your own words or copy something from the article (use something that stands out)

c) Paste the bit.ly link at the end of your headline

Check all the details then publish the post/s

Step 5: Sharing in Groups

When I shared my post into a couple of groups (I only shared in 2 groups), I made sure the membership in the group was large and active. Since my post had value for the audience, more eyes were viewing the content.

Here is one group I used:

If they wanted to know more, they had to click on the link in the post that landed on the group page. The post will look different when it is shared – the post link shows at the bottom of the image.

Make sure your comment on the share grabs attention – without this crucial piece of the puzzle, to be frank, it just won’t happen.

Step 6: Review your results

Go back to Chatmatic and look to see how many button subscribers you have. As I did not link mine to an autoresponder, I will need to export the list as a csv and upload it to my autoresponder.

What I do know is that just 24 hours later, I now have 190 new people on my button subscriber list.

People will still continue to click on the link but if your group is active, your post will soon be pushed down the page. After 24 or 36 hours, share the same post to other groups.

Step 7: Rinse and Repeat

For me, I have 15 or so fan pages on the go for different niches. I can use this method for all of them to build my social credibility and build an email list at the same time!

I hope this guide will set you on the path to building a huge list of potential buyers you can communicate with on a regular basis.
