I love my job, just not my co-workers

We have all been there. It is Monday morning, and you are in the shower dreading going to work. But in this case, it is not the job that you dread. Instead, it's your co-workers!

I love the advice you get from people who apparently haven't lived it. You know the advice I am talking about, "oh just ignore them" or "don't let them get you down" or my favorite, "if you let it effect you, they win."

We are in the real world with real people who a) will not just go away after ignoring them for a few days b) will do whatever it takes to bring you down because they are miserable and c) will damage your career in any way possible.

So RNA-Consulting put together a list of 5 things you can do when forced to deal with the co-workers you just don't get along with:

1) Approach your colleague and have a conversation. Maybe it is a miss understanding; you won't know until you ask. I always liked talking outside of work, perhaps over dinner and a drink. From my experience, this has worked more times than not, and those co-workers have turned into some of my best friends. The power of a conversation and understanding

2) By far the most important as it will protect your butt! Make sure to document any comments and actions by your co-workers. Include the time, date, what happened, who, if anyone, witnessed the situation, and how it made you feel

3) Each time you complete number two immediately take the document to your HR department AND follow up with an email to the same HR contact ( giving you documented proof). Copy yourself on any email sent to HR, so you have (and they know) a copy of the same email off-site

4) Asked to be moved to a new department, building or even location. Again, make sure that you have documented proof of asking and the response to your request

5) If all else fails, get a lawyer involved! Nine times out of ten a lawyer will take your case on a contingency basis.
